Tropical Cyclone Alfred is set to make its way across the Australian Coast between Bundaberg and Northern New South Wales (NSW) on Thursday 6th March.
The severe weather event anticipated later this week is expected to lead to disruptions at the Port of Brisbane, impacting terminals, empty container parks, and transport.
In NSW, all empty areas at DP World Port Botany will remain closed until further notice due to hazardous high winds affecting operations.
Measures have been taken by the Port of Brisbane to help stay ahead of the changes to port operations. Please see updates below:
Terminals:
- Imports: Operations are still ongoing but expected to close from completion of Day Shift tomorrow, Tuesday, 4 March 2025.
- Exports: Cargo receivals at Patrick, DP World, Hutchison Ports, and AA suspended until further notice.
Vessel Movements:
- The shipping channel is now closed to inbound vessels and the final outbound transits have been completed.
- No further shipping movements from Wednesday evening (5th March). Awaiting update confirming whether berthed vessels will be required to evacuate the port.
Empty Container Parks:
- Several empty container parks across the port have already suspended operations due to safety concerns.
The current expectation is that terminal operations may resume on Saturday, 8th March. We will be closely monitoring the situation and keep you informed as we receive updates.
