Negotiations are set to continue between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), with the current contract due to expire on January 15, 2025.

Negotiations are set to continue between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), with the current contract due to expire on January 15, 2025. Should an agreement not be reached in time for this deadline, strike action will cease operations across all major US East and Gulf Coast ports, causing major delays, congestion and backlog.

In the event that a strike does go ahead, carriers are announcing surcharges for cargo via these ports. Therefore, please note that the following Emergency Congestion Surcharge will be applicable on all LCL cargo arriving into and departing from US East and Gulf Coast ports on or after January 15th, 2025.

Emergency Congestion Surcharge:

LCL Exports: USD 40 w/m - for all sailings from a US East or Gulf Coast Port on or after January 15, 2025

LCL Imports: USD 40 w/m - for all arrivals into a US East or Gulf Coast Port on or after January 15th, 2025.

Emergency surcharges on full container shipments will be passed on as billed by the carriers.

Surcharges will be invoiced with freight charges according to incoterms.

As the situation develops over the coming weeks, we will continue to monitor the developments closely across the US and will work to provide solutions to customers. We appreciate your understanding.
