Carbon Calculator

Whether weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly, we help deliver business carbon footprint reports and guidance to optimise and reduce a supply chain’s footprint.

Understanding Your Supply Chain's Carbon Footprint

In today's environmentally conscious world, understanding and reducing your supply chain's carbon footprint is more critical than ever. Woodland Group is committed to providing carbon-conscious solutions, and our new Carbon Calculator empowers you to gain valuable insights into your shipment emissions, regardless of size or route.

Gain Transparency and Optimise Your Supply Chain

Our free carbon calculator tool generates regular emission reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually) and provides guidance to help you optimize and reduce your supply chain's environmental impact. We build upon the established carbon footprint reporting of our own fleet, providing detailed calculations for intermodal transport chains worldwide.

Sophisticated Calculations, Globally Recognized Standards

Our sophisticated emission calculator determines energy consumption, greenhouse gases (CO2 and CO2 equivalents), and air pollutants (SOx, NOx, NMHC, and PM10) for all modes of transport globally. It's accredited by the Smart Freight Centre for compliance with the GLEC Framework, meets the requirements of EN 16258 and the GHG Protocol (Corporate Standard), making it one of the most advanced tools available in supply chain management.

Comprehensive Emissions Tracking

Our Carbon Calculator automatically identifies transfer points for ports, airports, and railway stations. It incorporates network-specific attributes, such as street category or electrification, and automatically detects stopovers based on flight numbers. Calculations include transport distances, energy consumption, greenhouse gases (CO2 and CO2 equivalents), air pollutants (SOx, NOx, NMHC, and PM10), and detailed emissions for Well-To-Tank (WTT) and Tank-To-Wheel (TTW). WTT emissions cover energy source production, from extraction/generation to refineries and distribution. TTW emissions cover transport itself, including fuel consumption and processing, considering vehicle type, fuel quality, and emissions classification by country.

A Word from Our Chairman & CEO

"Global greenhouse gas emissions of domestic and international transportation tripled between 1995 and 2012 and are estimated to rise by 60% between 2015 and 2050."

The Importance of the GLEC Framework

The GLEC Framework, developed by the Smart Freight Centre, provides a standardized methodology for calculating and reporting logistics greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It's a globally recognized standard, forming the basis of ISO14083, and aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the Global Green Freight Action Plan, and CDP Reporting. The GLEC Framework ensures consistency and transparency in emissions reporting across the industry, making it easier to compare data and identify areas for improvement.

Woodland Group's GLEC-Aligned Reporting

As a member of the Smart Freight Centre, Woodland Group offers high-quality carbon reporting aligned with the GLEC Framework. We provide shipment carbon reports to all clients on a monthly, quarterly, annual, or as-needed basis. Our client reports include data on carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides, sulphur dioxide, non-methane hydrocarbons, particulate matter emissions, and overall CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions. Data is presented by countries and country pairs, transport mode, weight, shipment count, distance, consigner and consignee, and journey legs. We also provide average gCO2e intensity ratios per transport mode. All emissions measurements are "well-to-wheel," accounting for fuel production and transportation. Our Smart Freight Centre membership allows us to leverage carrier-specific, primary data for even greater reporting precision.
