With Hurricane Milton due to arrive imminently, the Florida state are shutting down operations and mass evacuations are in effect.
This is expected to have further significant impact on Central and Eastern Florida, with widespread power outages and road closures expected as a result.
Currently, we can report the following closures at local airports/seaports:
- Tampa International Airport (TPA): closed from 9am today (8 Oct) and will remain closed until it can assess any damage after the storm
- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE): closed after the last flight today (8th Oct) and will remain closed through at least Thursday 10th
- Orlando International Airport (MCO): ceasing operations at 8am tomorrow (9th Oct)
- Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ): Closed from 4pm today (8th Oct)
- Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW): closed Wednesday 9th - Thursday 10th
- Port of Miami: closed due to the storm’s approach
- Port Everglades: operations have been suspended
- Port Canaveral: closed as a precaution
- Port of Tampa Bay: closed to all traffic
- Port of Jacksonville: ceased operations
The US Coast Guard declared “port condition Zulu,” meaning all ports in the affected area are closed to incoming and outgoing traffic.
